Support to ICICI Bank Foundation

Support to ICICI Bank Foundation (ICICI Academy for Skills) ( 2014 – 2015 )

IMPART Supported ICICI Academy for Skills, by providing them 60 candidates from Sitarganj, Bajpur & Kashipur.

ICICI Academy for Skills thanked IMPART for the interest shown towards supporting them in the initiative ICICI Group has recently taken.

Introduction-

For the next couple of decades, India is going to have a large supply of young people who will be ready to join the workforce and participate in the economic development. Providing livelihoods to this section of youth will be essential to ensure their effective participation in the growth of the country. The reality is that a large section of population remains outside the employment market either due to lack of access to job markets or lack of requisite skills – most times both. Narrowing the existing gap between the demand and supply of skills for sustainable livelihood, has been identified by the Government as a major area of thrust. To supplement the Government’s effort, private sector support will be essential.

ICICI Group has always partnered in the process of nation building and it strives to make a difference to its customers and to the society at large through its products and services. In line with the same philosophy, ICICI Group under the aegis of ICICI Foundation has institutionalised ‘ICICI Academy for Skills’. The academy will focus on imparting vocational skills to the marginalised and underprivileged youth and create a direct impact by enabling livelihood.

The Academy offers courses in Electrical & Home Appliance Repair, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Repair, Pumps & Motor Repair, Selling Skills, Web Designing and Office Administration. The duration of the courses is 12 weeks and is pro bono. The Academy runs courses in Jaipur, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Patna and Narsobawadi.

The Academy has tied up with knowledge partners such as Schneider Electric India Pvt. Ltd ,Blue Star Ltd., Crompton Greaves Ltd., Voltas Ltd., NIIT Ltd. and Tally Solutions Pvt. Ltd.to create an ecosystem which provides best-in class course curriculum. This being a vocational skilling program, there is disproportionate focus on lab-work. Theoretical aspect is limited to the extent of creating understanding and comprehension of the trade.
